Should we cover the travel expenses of our guests?

When is it appropriate to send save the dates?

Can I ask for a gift?
It is understood that your guests will pay for their travel costs to be there with you for the wedding. Therefore, gifts are not necessary and should not be requested. Your guests’ presence at the wedding should be considered their gift. To ensure that your guests are on the same page, you might consider posting a note on your website.
The exception to this rule is for guests who cannot attend the wedding but have requested a gift instead. If this is the case, you can provide gift registry information to each guest.
